Word lists for your field
Drug names, anatomy and legal terms are where dictation slips. Give Whisper a list of the words you use, and it expects them. Pick a list, import it, and you are set.
How to import a list
- 1Download the .json file for your field below.
- 2In Whisper, open Settings, then Advanced, then Custom Words.
- 3Click “Import file” and pick the file. The words are added to the ones you already have.
- 4Under Models, choose Whisper Large, or Whisper Turbo if you want more speed. These models read your word list before they transcribe.
On an older version without “Import file”, open the .txt file instead, copy the words, and paste them with “Import list”.

Keep your list short
Whisper reads about 40 words from your list. Words beyond that do not help, and some words on the list may be skipped. So do not import every list at once. Import one, remove the words you never say, and add the words that still come out wrong for you.
